Voice Input Player for Source Games (thanks to Balmax)

Voice Input Player is to replace HLDJ which no longer works. All credit goes to Balmax who developed it. I am posting this with his permission. Please send all feedback / suggesions to Balmax.

Section 1 - Required Downloads

VB-Audio Virtual Cable Driver (required for VIP to work):

Section 2 - Setup VB-Audio Virtual Cable Driver

After downloading the cable driver, run the installation and restart your computer, then make these changes in Windows:

Section 3 - Setup Balmax's Voice Input Player for Source Games

After downloading and extracting vip.zip (see download section), right click VoiceInputPlayer.exe and press "Run as Administrator". If you get a windows security warning saying the program is unrecognized, press 'More Info' and then press 'Run Anyway', to force the program to run. You might also have to open the file properties and unblock the file if it is untrusted. Then follow the steps outlined below:

Open the console in game by pressing '~' (tilda key).

Section 4 - HLDJ Commands

Perform these commands in the console:

la/ls - lists audio files and sub-directories.
ld - loads list of directories instead.
kup - goes down a directory
re - refresh current directory.
next - loads the next audio file in the current directory.
prev - loads the previous audio file in the current directory.
rand - loads a random audio file from the current directory.
vup - Adjust audio volume higher
vdown - Adjust audio volume lower
vplay/vstop - command trigger selected audio when play key is left toggle on.
vpause - Pauses current playing audio. Note. pause audio position is lost when play key is toggle off.
vresume - unpause audio.
asman - loads list of audio files via custom alias. you can manage the list via alias button on gui
to play a song type the number of the song you want, then close the console window. Press the key you binded to play audio.


Section 5 - Processing your mp3 / wav files to play in TFC
First off, you can play MP3s without any conversion now :) I am just posting the below method for legacy reasons:
In order to play music in TFC, you must convert your songs to 16 bit, mono, 8khz. If you don't do this your music will sound garbled. I recommend you use dBpoweramp for quick easy conversions of MP3 to the required WAV audio format. Follow the steps outlined below after you have installed dBpoweramp:

Section 6 - Notes

Again, this fix is currently in Beta, send feedback to Balmax or reply here.
To further improve your wav sound quality, you can try programs like Audacity to filter out the amount of bass in your music (high-pass filter), as the wav conversion can cause a heavy bass sound.

Many thanks to Balmax for bringing an easy way to mic spam back into TFC! I hope to see you all mic spamming again!

Who needs HLDJ nowadays when you can play MP3s straight from winamp etc.

Well, if you have 100 small sound clips, you'd like hotkey'ed, then HLDJ/HLSS is alot more convenient to use.

HLDJ is utter trash. Yea I love people forcing their music tastes on me. Used to end up having to mute half the server. Not sure why anybody thinks playing the same rubbish over and over is a good thing?

some more additional alias commands are included

damn it! xD valve gone and broke something. some audio file are not playing correctly. promblem as follows; low volume, breaking in/out of music :(
